Road Spotter Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Road Spotter is provided by Our Family of 5 Ltd, trading as Back Seat Games (“we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains how the game and its service providers handle information. You do not need an account to play.

Game progress and location

Boards, coins, badges and Journey Memories are stored on your device. You can export or share a Journey Memory using your device’s sharing features; the service you select then handles the shared content under its own terms.

Location access is optional and requires device permission. The app uses foreground location for journey features and can send coordinates to the Sunrise-Sunset service to determine local daylight times. You can disable location permission in device settings and select your country manually. Local storage and uninstall behaviour depend on your device and backup settings.

Optional feedback

If you send feedback, the app sends your title and message, a randomly generated installation identifier, region, platform and app-version information to the Back Seat Games feedback service. We use this information to investigate problems and suggestions. Please do not include sensitive personal information. The in-app feedback request does not ask for your email address.

Advertising and technical information

Road Spotter offers optional rewarded adverts. Advertising software can initialise and load an advert before you choose to watch it, so declining to watch does not necessarily stop all advertising-service data processing.

The app requests child-directed, under-age-of-consent and non-personalised advertising settings. These settings restrict advertising treatment; they do not mean that providers process no technical information.

The app includes Google AdMob and mediation integrations for Unity Ads, Chartboost, InMobi, Liftoff Monetize and Kidoz. Provider availability depends on platform and configuration.

Google Mobile Ads discloses automatic collection and sharing of IP-derived approximate location, advertising interactions, diagnostics, and device or other identifiers for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.

Unity Ads’ published disclosure lists collection and sharing of approximate location, personal identifiers, purchase history, advertising interactions, diagnostics, and device or other identifiers. Unity identifies app functionality as the purpose for personal identifiers, and analytics and advertising as the purposes for purchase history. Its disclosure states this processing is not ephemeral.

Chartboost’s published disclosure lists collection and sharing of purchase history, other app performance data, and device or other identifiers for analytics, advertising, fraud prevention, security and compliance. Chartboost states this processing is not ephemeral.

These are the respective providers’ published disclosures; they are not a statement that every advertising provider processes the same information. Refer to each provider’s documents below for its own data practices and privacy controls.

Providers explain their data practices and privacy controls in the following documents:

Purchases

Optional coin purchases are processed through Apple or Google. The game receives transaction information to grant coins and complete the purchase. Payment-card details are handled by the store and are not supplied to us by the game.

Service requests and security

The app contacts Back Seat Games to obtain game content and submit feedback, and Expo services to check for app updates. Network services receive technical information needed to respond to requests, including an IP address. The app’s feedback and solar-service requests use HTTPS. No internet service or device can be guaranteed completely secure.

Retention and your choices

We retain information as needed to operate the services, investigate feedback and meet applicable obligations. Advertising providers apply their own retention policies. Removing local app data does not automatically delete information held by service providers.

For access, correction or deletion requests, email contact@backseatgames.dev. Include the installation or player identifier shown in the app where relevant, so we can locate the record. Please do not send passwords or payment-card details. We may need further information to identify the relevant record and verify your request. Provider-held information may also need a request through the provider’s privacy controls linked above.

You can manage location permissions in your device settings, choose not to submit feedback or make purchases, and choose whether to watch a rewarded advert or share a Journey Memory.

Children

Road Spotter is designed for family use. The app requests restricted advertising treatment for its audience. Parents and guardians should supervise optional feedback, purchases and external sharing. If you believe a child has supplied personal information that should be removed, contact us so we can investigate and address the request.

International processing

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy policies explain the safeguards and rights applicable to their processing.
